The three beauty products I’m buying this month for glowing skin

By Alice Dore-Jones

Step away from that green juice! Cancel that appointment you had for a colonic and for goodness sake stop buying all those organic super foods that are apparently made from unicorn tears. Cause folks I’m here to share a secret I’ve discovered about achieving glowing skin. It doesn’t actually have to come from within… you can fake it! There is this awesome stuff called make-up and it’s bloody fantastic.

While I’m all for being healthy and it would certainly be lovely to have skin that magically glowed via microscopic rays of sunshine radiating from my pores… it hasn’t happened for me.

So, I use make-up. I like the way I can pop it on and instantly feel I look fresher and basically (a bit) hotter. I also think it can be a public service act to those that have to look at me … You know those days when you look so rough that someone is bound to ask: “Are you okay?”

I was pretty crap when I started applying makeup and finally in my 30’s I’ve got a little routine down pat that I follow to the letter.  While I’ve come leaps and bounds from the smearing and slapping on of products that I use to do, my make-up game is not as strong as it could be and I’ve figured out why…. I’m using the wrong products.

I’ve realised it’s time to invest some dosh on my makeup.  After all I wear it most days and I’ve spent more money then I’d like to think about on brows and hair-cuts… So, why not the products I apply everyday? Time to fake it till I make it!

So, here are the products I’ll be spending my hard earned dollars on. I’ve made this list based on a ton of research… and by research I mean stalking the instagram accounts of make-up artists I admire and respect to see what they use in their kits. I’m not talking about the items people get paid to talk about… I’m talking about the stuff they base their livelihoods on. The products that they know are going to make their clients look great and that they can ensure will deliver polished results.

So I want to buy:

1) Luminous Silk Foundation

This one promises all day coverage with glow .  I have a girlfriend who is currently using it and she loves the way it stays on all day. Really worth the spend from her review and a consistent pick in beauty kits across the board.

2) Laura Mercier primer.

This will apparently help create a barrier between my skin and the foundation. This will make for a more even and better coverage of foundation. Tailoring to your needs Laura Mercier has a variety of styles catering to skin needs of just about everyone. I’m loving the sound of the  primer which is a tinted SPF moistursier with illumination.  I’m obsessed with the idea of dewy skin so this sounds like the one for me.

3) YSL touche eclat.

You’d be hard pressed to find a make-up artist that doesn’t count on this product. They love how it hides dark eye circles, can be used to contour and makes you look fresh.  Noting my previous comment about needing to avoid that “rough” look in the morning this one seems like a no brainier to me!

OR

I know I said three products and I really had meant it. I even had these products sitting pretty in my online shopping basket. Then, I discovered that you could buy Charlotte Tilbury’s range in Australia.

Charlotte is an amazing celebrity make-up artist based in American and just about every make-up artist is going gaga for her products. All the make-up artists I follow on social media have  gone out of their way to make dedicated posts about the range and have been genuinely excited about her products. The main thing they all say is how much they love how it helps them achieve  glowing, dewy skin which just radiates for their clients.

Now that you can actually get your hands on her products from Australia I’m thinking I’d want to get:

Also, how super helpful is this, you can email a consultant on Charlotte’s site  your current shade of foundation and they will make a recommendation for which shade you should buy.

It really sounds like this is the make-up that make-up artists use (I know that’s someone else’s catch cry- whoops) and I like the idea of going with a product that someone in the business has developed. I think it’s pretty clear what way my dollars are going to be spent.

Love your style of writing! Btw just be careful with the products you get, even though its a name brand check the ingredients 🙂 there are some drugstore companies that have the same manufacturer as high end brands
