Links we love this week

Happy Friday Chalkers! Here’s what we’ve been reading this week to get you through to the weekend.

This week we shared two very different travel experiences – a day in New York and a tour to the heart of Jakarta‘s shanty towns.

If you’re travelling soon then check out Zoola Fix. The site aims to match party-loving travellers with a local “fixer” who can introduce you to the best that the city’s nightlife has to offer whether it’s an underground nightclub  in London or a stylish rooftop bar in New York.

Don’t forget to enter this week’s competition for your chance to win a Kikki K Leather Travel Organiser. Click here for all the deets on how to enter.

If you’re as guilty as I am of putting in long hours at the office then you may be doing more harm than good to your health and your career. Click here to find out why overtime is not the key to career success and how to stop.

Mother’s Day is just around the corner and our good friends over at the Trinket Store have got you covered with their beautiful range of handmade jewellery. Check out their range of Mother’s Day gift ideas on Instagram: @trinket_store

I will openly admit to being a bit of a tight-ass, and it’s nothing to do with the 30 day booty challenge. I’ve recently moved into a new apartment and have been loving all that Kmart have to offer in affordable home and garden styling.

This week Australia mourned the deaths of two Australian drug smugglers who were executed in Indonesia: Andrew Chan and Myuran Sukumaran. This moving piece, Shot through the heart, explores the lack of compassion on both sides and dares to ask what this ‘whole sorry saga says about civilised 21st-century democracies and societies’. A must read.

We have your weekend brunch covered right here with these delicious blueberry and chia pancakes.

Laughter really is the best medicine. Just in case you’re like me and completely missed the memo, check out TheFatJewish on Instagram and Twitter for your daily dose of hilarity.
